What Fragrances should I buy?

If I were building a fragrance collection from scratch, I wouldn’t just buy random bottles. I’d build around occasions and seasons so there’s always something that suits the moment.

Personally, I like to have an affordable option and a premium option in each category. That way, I always have something that fits the occasion — whether it’s an everyday reach or something special.

Here’s how I’d build my collection if budget allowed.

☀️ Summer Fragrances

For summer, I want something fresh, uplifting and easy to wear. Clean, Citrus notes always shine in warmer weather. I'm less fussy with Summer scents!

Affordable Pick

A versatile freshie that smells clean, bright and easy to throw on every day during the rare, hot weather in the UK .

Premium Pick

Something more refined with better depth and performance — the kind of fragrance that feels effortless in the heat and gets noticed without trying too hard which I could also wear on a special occasions during warmer weather.

My thinking:
Summer fragrances should feel refreshing, never heavy. I personally think some Summer scents work well for everyday wear, regardless of the weather. On the flip side, a good everyday scent can also work well in both Summer & the Winter, hence the term 'everyday'.

❄️ Winter Fragrances

Winter is where fragrances for me, get fun. I am a big fan of Vanilla, Spicy, Cinnamon & Boozy notes.

Affordable Pick

Something rich and comforting that ideally performs well in colder weather but as its an affordable option, performance isn't a priority.

Premium Pick

A statement fragrance with depth and presence — something you genuinely look forward to wearing that performs well & is long lasting.

My thinking:
If I had to spend money anywhere, it’d probably be winter fragrances. Cold weather lets fragrances really shine and usually have a lot more variety & depth, as well as performance.

🖤 Everyday Fragrances

Every collection needs a fragrance you can wear without thinking.

This is the scent for:

  • work
  • errands
  • casual days
  • throwing on after the gym
  • when you just want to smell good

Affordable Pick

Mass appealing, versatile and easy to wear.

Premium Pick

Still versatile — but smoother, more refined and better blended.

My thinking:
Your everyday fragrance shouldn’t be challenging.

✨ Special Occasion Fragrances

This is where I’d spend a bit more. My Special Occasion Fragrances are usually worn in colder weather. The type that projects on to people which prompts them to ask....'What is that you are wearing?'

Weddings, dinners, nights out, birthdays, holidays — the fragrance that makes you feel like the best version of yourself.

Affordable Pick

A compliment puller that feels elevated without breaking the bank.

Premium Pick

The one that turns heads. Something memorable, luxurious and confidence boosting.

My thinking:
You don’t wear these every day, so one amazing bottle can last a long time. My premium Winter scents would never be sprayed in hot weather, unlike some good Summer scents which can cross over into everyday use & special occasions across all weather.

Final Thoughts

If I had the budget, I’d rather own a small, well-rounded fragrance wardrobe than loads of similar bottles.

I can also understand not having a premium everyday scent.

For me, the ideal collection is simple, an affordable & premium option for each of the below:

☀️ Summer
❄️ Winter
🖤 Everyday
✨ Special Occasion
